Yes, I knew Ana wasn't chasing her new baby Freya (except maybe to move her away from the nosey baby boy). :) Figured they were all getting rid of winter hair but Ana looked really scruffy, lol! ;)

All adults will look dreadful over the next few weeks.. sorry. :(
It's just the reindeer year... The moult goes on for about 3 months. The very tame ones accept grooming (mostly.... Boris does a two step round me if he sees a brush!) which in the first few weeks removes the long guard hairs. Then the thick undercoat comes out in clumps (when it is ready) but the wilder ones chew their own coats out (as they would in nature)... They will look dreadful for a few more weeks...
Even the tomorrow BD Boy looks dreadful and he gets a daily groom...

Don't ask why he is chewing the fence.... even I don't know... but it's the fence right next to the babies...

He probably wants to go and play with the babies and thinks he can chew his way through!

Not sure if this is what I am watching at the moment.. but if it is it it epic... just remind my mothers that they have had it easily... It's a long BBC informative, so only for the committed...

This morning it seemed I was left on calf sitting duties (for 3 older calves).
They were quite happy me crawling between them. At the end of the video you will see quite how trusting Loki is of me but then he shares a mother with Hector and she's very chilled.

Tomorrow might be a different story as I have had to give Loki 2 injections as he had scours this afternoon and a temperature of 40oC/ 104oF. He's as bright as a button in himself and as strong as an ox when I'm trying to inject him, so not too worried - think/hope I've caught any infection early. Bless him though, he let me stroke his nose 2 minutes after putting nasty needles in him!

I'm sure he'll be fine, but the odd crossed fingers wouldn't hurt... ;)

Would love to watch but it wants me to sign in and I don't have (and will not create) an account. I haven't had to do any of that for the other videos you have posted.

Ohhh not sure why??? Don't like that either Caviar... I'll try to look at settings... What did it ask you to sign up for? I am a bit of a techno numpty so I may have pressed an odd button... :(

Caviar, just had a look and I had added their website address in messages, so maybe that was the problem... I've removed it now so hopefully you can see video. If not please let me know or someone that is better at this "stuff" let me know why the WWW is putting the thumb screws on Caviar please.... :(

Whatever you did to fix it worked. Love the "get up, scratch under chin, move, lay down, get up, scratch under chin, move....", lol!
Looks like it was pretty much that nap/chew cud time of day for all.

    :)

    Congratulations to Hector! :inlove:

Have you decided what you are going to do with him? (I mean before the rut)

Mir... he is going through this rut... Scary as he is so tame... The tamer they are the more scary in rut...
BUT my original thoughts were to castrate in the Spring BUT he isn't related to my two new girl babies (Lexi & Freya) so do I keep him entire for the next rut??? Not sure... It means I can't take him out for Christmas events, unless I try to import the hormone implants that are used in the USA - we don't have them in the UK... SO haven't got the answer yet...
He is so good with people and will be a super boy for displays, and parades, as he is bomb proof... so I haven't a clue yet... :(

What will you do this rut? Keep him in a separate paddock? Maybe you have explained this before, I can't remember, but why can't you take him out for Christmas if you keep him entire? Is it because he'll drop his antlers, or is there something more? Would be a shame if he can't do Christmas events :(

He will be my rutting bull this September
An entire male will either drop his antlers before Christmas (if dropped, he'll be a kitty cat again) or if he still has them (without hormone implants) he will still be a bit hormonal... and RATHER PLAYFUL... Would need to be on a tight lead rope and may want to tussle with his antlers... Tussles may or may not be energetic but potentially dangerous.... :(.. Entires cannot be truly trusted until antler drop. :(

Just noticed this morning that Lexi had white eyelashes on her left eye and brown on her right. Looks quite cute once you spot it.
